Sharon Kennedy was born on May 24, 1943 to Ann and Guido Calomino and passed away on June 28, 2024 surrounded by her family.
Sharon grew up in South Denver with her mother and attended St. Francis de Sales grade school and high school. Sharon enjoyed dance, bowling, and was an avid pet lover. During high school she met her soul mate, Rich Kennedy. After high school, Sharon and Rich’s love blossomed into marriage and they wed in January 1964. The newly married couple wasted little time in starting a family with first son, Rich Jr., arriving later in 1964 and second son, Gregg, joining the family in early 1966. For the next decade of Sharon’s life she focused on raising her sons. During that time she and Rich knew they had more love to give and brought their third son, Chad, into their life in 1974.
As their family grew, Sharon committed herself to the numerous activities in which her boys engaged. Whether at schools, football, baseball, soccer fields, or ice hockey rinks, Sharon was a fixture that made sure everyone was happy, healthy, and making wonderful memories. When not supporting her sons, Sharon was a talented bowler who enjoyed much success in her bowling leagues. In addition to her boys, Sharon’s family always included dogs and cats whom she adored with all her heart. Sharon spent much time and energy with other pet lovers at dog shows through most of her life and was very proud of her Vislas.
When her sons’ married, she finally got the daughters of her dreams. Susan (Rich) and Kelly (Gregg) gave her the kinship she missed in having 3 sons, and also 4 spectacular grandchildren. Zach, Cory, Rachel, and Connor became the source of much joy and happiness for Sharon. She was so proud to say to others at whatever event she was attending, “I’m that one’s Grandma”.
As Sharon and Rich’s days shifted from traveling to dog shows and watching grandkids at fields and rinks, to the garden in the yard, their time together was always grounded in love. Sharon’s kindness, intelligence, and humanity touched not only her family but also her many friends. While she will be deeply missed, her compassion, drive, humor, and unwavering love lives on with her husband, her sons and daughters in laws, and her grandchildren.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Tuesday, August 6th starting at 5:00 p.m. at Gregg and Kelly Kennedy's home on 69 Fairway Lane in Littleton, CO
