Logan Counts Obituary

Logan F. Counts was born in Texas and was a career cowboy and rancher. He

met his future wife, Jean, and they married in 1947. They had two daughters,

Phyllis and Deb. The young family moved to Las Vegas, NM, where they all

helped in running a sheep and cattle ranch for seven years. While there, Logan

obtained his pilot’s license for small planes.

The Counts family moved to Douglas County in 1961. Logan bought and ran

the Triangle Farm Feed Supply in Denver (commuting daily to its location at I-

25 and I-70 for 29 years with the same three employees that entire time). Logan

and Jean purchased their forever home in Castle Rock in 1969 where they raised

their daughters. Logan and Jean loved dancing and won many dancing contests

over the years.

At a relatively late age, Logan took up the game of golf. He quickly developed a

passion for it. He played in a league at Red Hawk for many years in his custom-

made cowboy boots that were fitted with golf cleats, his signature and a big hit

on the course. He enjoyed the game so much, he decided to set a goal to play

golf in every state in the US. He did accomplish his goal, with the exception of

Alaska. He lost Jean in 2010.

Logan passed away at 100+ years in the family home that meant so much to

him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He will be

remembered for being generous, kind, and for his wonderful sense of humor. He

is survived by his two daughters, Phyllis Counts and Deb Doe, a granddaughter,

Crystal Richards (and her husband Scott) and a great-granddaughter, Lila.

It was Logan’s wish that his memorial be combined with his 100

th

birthday party,

held earlier this year and for which he was gratefully present! We are honoring

that wish with a private burial. However, in lieu of flowers, if you would like to

honor his memory with a donation to one of his favorite organizations (based on

his deep love for animals, compassion for those in need, and a belief in second

changes), we have included a list below:
