Joyce Ortega Obituary

Joyce Ellen Ortega, a beacon of love and adventure, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on March 18, 2026, in Canon City, Colorado. Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on September 4, 1940, to Aubrie Milton and Lois Priscilla (Pidcoke) Flowers. Joyce's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with the threads of kindness, creativity, and a spirit that inspired all who knew her.

Joyce, lovingly known by her friends and family as a woman of deep Christian faith, lived her life as a testament to the values she held dear. Joyce was the beloved wife of Ronald Rodriguez, with whom she shared a life full of laughter and mutual support. She was the loving mother to daughter, Tamara (Ignacio) Jaimes, and devoted stepsons, Chad (Jennifer) Miller and Brian (Tayler) Rodriguez. Joyce's heart swelled with pride for her grandchildren, Jessi (Kyle) Nelson, Elise (Reed) Thomas, Jaime Jaimes, Makayla Miller, Marisa Miller, and Milo Rodriguez, and she was overjoyed to be a great-grandmother to three wonderful boys. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and brother LeRoy Flowers.

Throughout her life, Joyce embodied the essence of thoughtfulness. She had an innate ability to make each person feel seen and valued, a quality that drew people to her. Her adventurous spirit was contagious, and she was always ready to embark on a new journey, whether it was through the pages of a book or on the open road.

An avid lover of karaoke, Joyce's melodious voice was often the highlight of gatherings, creating memories that her loved ones will treasure forever. Bowling was another passion, and she could frequently be found at the lanes, sharing laughter and friendly competition. In quieter moments, Joyce found solace in arts and crafts, channeling her creativity into beautiful works that are cherished keepsakes today.

As we remember Joyce, we reflect on the words of Helen Keller: "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Joyce's loving presence has indeed become an integral part of us, and her legacy of love and adventure will live on through her family and the many lives she touched.

Joyce's journey through life was marked by her dedication to her family, her faith, and her passions. Her thoughtful nature and loving heart have left an indelible mark on the world, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In her passing, Joyce leaves behind a legacy of warmth and generosity that will continue to light the way for her family and friends. As we bid farewell to Joyce Ellen Ortega, we celebrate the extraordinary life of a woman who was truly one of a kind. We take comfort in knowing that her spirit will remain with us, guiding us with the love and wisdom she shared so freely during her remarkable life.
