Goldie Rosalie Vitullo of Florence, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, August 5, 2022 at the age of 88. Goldie was born on April 30, 1934 in Rocky Ford, CO. Her family moved to Canon City when she was a year old, and she resided in Fremont County ever since.

Goldie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don. They had been married for 66 years at the time of his passing. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Orval and Cora Myrtle Zimmerman, sisters Phyllis, Alma, Velma, and Millie, and brothers Gomer, Gene, and Clyde.

Goldie will be greatly missed by her daughters, Kathy Cohen (Eddie) of California; Debbie Carlson of Florence; two grandsons, Jon Biernacki (Ginny) and Jeff Biernacki, and one great-grandson, Brandon, all of California. She is also survived by 2 sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Goldie will be fondly remembered by the Cohen “clan” in California; grandsons Dustin Cohen (Shannon) and Casey Cohen (Spring) and great-grandchildren Austin, Colter, Jayce, Jasmine, and Taylor.

Goldie was very active in the Florence community. She worked at Senatore’s Department Store and was the receptionist at Dr. Rydberg’s dental office. She and Don were active members of the Florence United Methodist Church, and spent many years volunteering at the Price Pioneer Museum and with the Pioneer Day Association. Goldie did volunteer work at the Florence Hospital. She loved to spend time with family and friends, read, garden, work puzzles, and play pinochle.

Goldie will be remembered by her family and friends for her beautiful smile, her kindness to all, and her giving spirit.

Goldie’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to those who gave special care to her over the past four years, including Dr. Bliss and the staff of Sangre de Cristo Hospice, the entire staff at Progressive Care Center in Canon City, and the staff at CenterCare Hospice of Pueblo. Everyone’s loving and compassionate care of our mom will be long remembered.

Memorial donations in Goldie’s memory may be made to CenterCare Hospice, 4718 North Elizabeth Street, Suite B, Pueblo, CO, 81008.

Services will be held on Friday, August 12 at 2:00 at the Florence United Methodist Church, 1032 E. Main Street, Florence. Graveside service and reception will follow.
