David R. Smith

David R. Smith, passed away March 1, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital.  He was born February 17, 1957 to Leonard and Tressa (Kaller) Smith in Tucumcari, New Mexico. David attended Canon City High School and worked all his life in construction.  He could build a house from the ground up.  He worked all around the state of Colorado, with his early years working in Wyoming.  He worked on many houses in Canon City over the years.  He married, as he liked to say, "his beautiful wife, Susan Tenorio" on June 13, 1981.  A year later they welcomed their son David, whom he was very proud of .  David leaves behind 11 siblings, five sisters and 6 brothers.  He was especially close to his older brother Richard and younger brother Elmer.  Also survived by brother-in-laws Richard (Donna) Tenorio and Bernard Tenorio, all of Canon City.  He also leaves to cherish his memory, his good friends Stan and Krissy Hinton, Ed Jarose and Jerry and Linda Townsend.  A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 711 Phay Avenue, Canon City, CO 81212.
